Polish Printing House Natalii Installs the First HP Indigo press ws4500 in Poland
New applications and markets now possible for family-owned print house
BOEBLINGEN, Germany, xx September, 2007 – Natalii Sp. Zo.o of Rikietnica, Poland, has installed an HP Indigo press ws4500 – the first for the labelling and flexible packaging market to be sold in Poland.
Natalii specialises in the production of self-adhesive labels, in-mould labels, pouches, and self-adhesive tapes and shrink sleeves. The new HP Indigo press ws4500 will enable Natalii to offer high quality digital labels, printed in short-runs and on-demand. This is the first digital press that Natalii has installed and it plans to reduce its turnaround times and offer personalisation and other variable data services to new and existing customers.
“The HP Indigo press ws4500 has given us the opportunity to offer new applications and solutions to our customers,” said Natalia Zalaszewska, operations director, Natalii Sp. Zo.o. “The variable data capability of the presses has been a key selling point – and one very well received by our customers. The web-fed HP Indigo press ws4500 delivers flexo quality print and gives us access to HP’s end-to-end solutions including finishing partners AB Graphic, which led us to identify the HP Indigo press ws4500 as the technology best suited to our needs.”
Natalii has been proactive promoting the benefits of its new press via trade publications, its website and at exhibitions. It is also promoting the press to customers by using trans-promotional techniques in its monthly invoices to customers.
Trends in the labels market clearly favour digital printing. Run lengths are falling, with approximately 65 percent of jobs now below 2,000 metres. Such jobs are only marginally cost-effective on conventional presses as much time is spent in plate making, preparation, make-ready – and running several hundred metres of start-up waste. In contrast, these jobs are ideal for digital printing. No plates are necessary; printers can now run digital jobs from the same files as they would make plates from, and there is no start-up waste.
In conjunction with the HP Indigo press ws4500, Natalii installed a Digicon near-line finishing solution from HP partner, AB Graphic. The Digicon uses flexible, servo driven tooling technology optimised for minimising waste and set-up times and is capable of running a wide range of materials.
“The ability to offer embossing and hot stamping finishes in conjunction with short-run, high quality, variable data print, will enable us to stand out from competition,” said Natalia. “We have always been a forward-thinking company, and by maximising our investment in leading digital technology we can further differentiate ourselves from competitors.”
The HP Indigo press ws4XXX series has brought a combination of flexibility, versatility and profitability to label printers and converters. The HP Indigo press ws4500 is the latest in the series, and offers new features to improve workflow, ease of operation and save time.
Natalii’s new press was brought from HP’s Polish distributor Digiprint, which specialises in the Polish label and flexible packaging market, and offers customers a full-service from expert personal consultations, to sales, after-sales support and warranties.
“Over the last two years we have seen a very big change in the digital label market in Poland, fuelled by the demand for short-run, print on-demand and variable data applications,” said Jaroslaw Smakosz, sales director, Digiprint.
“HP has responded to this change with more application driven solutions and increased customer support, which in turn helps our business and those of our customers. In the digital label and flexible packaging market, there is no other company that can offer a full solution for such a wide range of applications as HP can.”
Natalii was established in 1985 and is a family-owned company. It employs 100 people at its premises in Rokietnica and offers flexo and digital label printing and a wide range of finishing services to clients across Poland.
